Poggio ai Grilli is a beautifully restored farmhouse with an experienced local cook included in the rental with a private swimming pool set on its own in the fascinating and renowned Camugliano Estate, founded by the De Medici family as a hunting retreat and which traces its origins back to the 16th century. Located at the heart of a vast 1000 acre private estate just south of Pisa & Lucca, the setting is one of absolute privacy and charming natural beauty.

The villa and separate guest house have been tastefully appointed with high quality materials and furnishings, and the warming décor provides a homely and peaceful setting.  A large open-plan living area with delightful vaulted ceilings and fireplace is the focal point of the ground floor, which flows seamlessly into the dining area and on into the large, well-equipped and typically Tuscan kitchen. The spacious air-conditioned bedrooms on the first floor gravitate around the air-conditioned living area with fireplace.

The vast outdoor areas include a lovely fenced private swimming pool, furnished with loungers and umbrellas, which you can reach with a few paces from the house across the impeccable lawns. A short uphill stroll in the woodland brings to the private tennis court. A few paces from the Kitchen is the  spacious shaded outdoor dining terrace with a huge table , offering splendid views of the cypress trees that adorn the woodland which encompasses the villa. A Second outdoor living area with stylish and very comfortable settees is set on the terrace of the guest house which sits directly opposite the villa across the lush lawns surrounding either building.

The cook prepares your breakfast and wonderful evening meals at the villa. Note that the food and wine is not included and that menus need to be arranged in advance for your arrival through our concierge service. Don’t forget  to advise us of any allergies. Lunch can also be arranged, again through the concierge service but the service is not included in the rental and is an extra and is to be paid locally.

In addition to the option of strolling through the estate’s stunning woodland you can walk to Camugliano’s Locanda, a small restaurant which specialises in typical Tuscan cuisine about a 10 minute walk. An ideal choice if you’re searching for a truly unique country retreat in a beautiful and exclusive setting.
