The town of Carcabuey has more than 2600 inhabitants, and its landscape, as well as its economy, is characterized by the high presence of olive trees. The caves in the mountains surrounding the town served as a settlement since prehistoric times. It is believed that economic activities determined their location. This is why you can find traces of this period all over the region of Carcabuey. You should visit the Medieval Castle, which has been controlled access to the region since its origins, take a walk all along its streets, find out its churches, hermitages, the Fuente del Pilar and the Caliphal bridge.
The town of Carcabuey belongs to the region of Subbética, located in a strategical area of Andalusia, the ideal departure point to get to know the other regions. In its interior, the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park is a protected area thanks to its geological and ecological importance. Among its magnificent landscapes, there is the Sierra de Cabra, which has been declared “Landscape of Natural Interest”, and where you can find interesting geological formations, such as the Lapiaz de Los Lanchares and its highest peak, El Picacho (1217meters). The highest peak of the province of Cordoba belongs to the Sierra de Horconera: la Tiñosa (1570 m). The Sierra de Rute and the marvelous landscape of the mouth of the river La Hoz are to be found extremely near, while other mountains and a great variety of flora and wildlife are present all over the territory.
If you love doing some sport in Nature, the region Subbética offers you the possibility to feel the adrenaline running through your veins, thanks to sports like mountain biking, paragliding, caving, mountain climbing. Moreover, you can do watersports such as canoeing, sailing, and fishing in the lake of Iznájar, in addition to the hiking routes and mountain routes, where the Vía Verde’s 58 km in the South of the province of Cordoba stand out. This route also extends until the province of Jaen, reaching 112 km.
The region of la Subbética also has significative archaelogical discoveries, Baroque buildings, popular traditions, and a rich gastronomy. In the region, you can find the towns of Almedinilla, Benamejí, Cabra, Carcabuey, Doña Mencía, Encinas Reales, Fuente Tójar, Iznájar, Lucena, Luque, Palenciana, Priego de Córdoba, Rute and Zuheros.

If you can tear yourself away from the view, you walk on to the generous terrace with its 10m x 5m swimming pool, outside kitchen, and Casa Jane’s fantastic ‘gazebo’. A glass-walled room with panoramic views one side, and sliding glass doors that can be opened pool-side, so you can stay cool in the summer, and warm in the winter.
The gazebo is the place to entertain during your holiday. With a full-length dining table, comfortable seating and UK TV it offers a very comfortable outside area to soak up the views, share food and relax.
The outdoor kitchen is very well equipped with a fridge/freezer, oven and hob, barbecue, sink, and dishwasher. It is perfect for barbecues on those long, warm summer evenings.
Walking past the outdoor kitchen takes you into the main villa. Your first glimpse of the indoor kitchen reassures you that everything is as good as the description! This gleaming kitchen is perfect for large groups to cook together, and very well equipped with a huge center aisle, 2 ovens, 2 dishwashers, microwave, built-in coffee machine (filled with beans and ready to go), fitted deep fat fryer and indoor barbecue, fridge freezer, and drinks fridge. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery, large pots, pans, wine glasses and everything you need to cater to your family. We provide a Welcome Pack, so there is enough food for a snack and a cup of tea or coffee when you arrive, and of course a beer or glass of wine as well. The adjacent utility room has a washing machine and a tumbles dryer.
From the kitchen, you go through into the lounge, with comfortable sofas, UK and Spanish TV, Playstation3, Wii machine, and DVD player. If you come in the winter the lounge is a cozy place to relax with your family.
Double doors lead off the lounge into the very generously sized dining room, with a large dining table and a library of books.
Also on the ground floor are three bedrooms; one double and two twin/triple rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms.
Going up to the first floor you will find the Master Bedroom – a lovely big room with a large king-size bed, its terrace and large patio doors giving a view over Nerja and the sea. You can lie in bed and watch the sunrise over the mountains! The Master bedroom has a large dressing room, UK TV, DVD player, and an en-suite bathroom. In the bathroom, you will find a bath, shower, twin basins and TV.
There are three other bedrooms on the first floor; king-size with a Juliette balcony and en-suite, a single or twin room, another twin room, and a shared bathroom. All of the bedrooms have radiators and all except the single room have air conditioning. From the first floor, you can access another terrace perfect for catching the last of the sunshine on winter evenings.
There is plenty for the children (and adults!) to do at Casa Jane. There is a private ¾ size tennis court, table tennis table, and basketball hoop. We provide bats and some balls, and some inflatables for the pool so that you can start your holiday as soon as you arrive. There is free wi-fi at the villa.
Casa Jane can sleep up to 14 adults and 4 children (in supplementary beds or cots). We have two cots, two high chairs, a potty, a travel cot and a baby monitor available so if you are traveling with little ones they will be well catered for.
The pool can be heated if required, there is an additional charge so please ask for details.

Casa Jane is about 10 minutes from Torrox Pueblo where you can find bakeries, butchers, greengrocers, and a small supermarket, as well as a lively plaza with bars and restaurants. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the beach or supermarkets at Torrox Costa and 25 minutes to drive to the beaches and shops at Nerja. Most people hire cars, but we do have a local taxi firm that will do airport transfers as well as trips to supermarkets and beaches.
If you are coming to Casa Jane to celebrate a special occasion we can offer you a chef for the evening to cook and serve you an excellent meal at a very reasonable price. We can also entertain, such as a Flamenco show for you right on the terrace, to make your day even more special.
Arriving tired from your journey? Why not have a Paella night when you arrive to get into the swing of Spanish living. Fish, meat or vegetarian paellas can be cooked for you at the villa, served with Sangria and crusty white bread.
